It’s so clear that a lot of the viewers of this show are majorly Americans, completely bewildered by a English black man who talks with confidence and thinks about what he says.

What's with the whole "Finn" got wasted circle jerk? He was great.

In TFA he defected and was crucial to the Resistance destroying Starkiller base, rescued Rey and held his own against Kylo for a while.
In TLJ he was given reason to give in to temptation and duck out of the fight, i.e to have a fun life free of conflict, and rejected it, and killed Phasma. Sure he got too reckless with the canon, but he learned from it.
In TROS he lead a crew of other force sensitive ex-stormtroopers (who didn't have his courage prior to meeting him) into a Sith homeworld, and was the absolute star of the battle. He didn't even use the telekinetic part of the force, just the telepathic part, and he was the star. The resistance would have been FUCKED without him on two ocassions, on top of the fact that he took out Phasma.

His arc was about starting off as an expendable, faceless Stormtrooper, but in ditching that life he got a name, he had importance, he had respect and rose up the ranks through comradery over the movies to a point where he was basically the Exegol leader. That would have never happened in the FO. Compare this to Hux, who stayed with the FO and got dicked on, which was not bad writing, but the point of his character, being a straight-up, passionate (albiet murderous) guy who just gave up with his dreams as his nature meant he was snaked in the FO constantly. This is the difference between the FO and Resistance.

Luke was right, to say that the light dies with the Jedi is vanity, and Finn (and Rose) are prime examples of that. Finn was no Jedi, but the force doesn't belong to the Jedi. He relapsed ONCE in TLJ, but was what the Galaxy needed, not the old failed husk of a religion.

I will say that in TLJ, he could have been portrayed better, even though I really liked what his core arc was in the movie, i.e putting aside his personal factors, like Rey and wanting an easier life after being a Stormtrooper, and joining the fight for good. I also think the Phasma deleted scene where he exposed her REALLY should have been kept in, as his acting was more on point than a lot of his movie stuff. My only TLJ criticisms were that the tone was luke-warm instead of hot and tense, the visuals could have been more creative, and Finn could have been portrayed better, but i definitely don't think it was bad overall (Finn's arc specifically, I thought TLJ was effing fantastic, even if there was still room for improvement). I'd say Finn's part was good but with a fair amount of room for improvement.

    What did ya'll want instead?
